Welcome to the Khatso language website, dedicated to the Khatso people of Yunnan, China and their language
The Khatso, who descend from troops Kublai Khan brought to Yunnan in 1253, today live in a single farming village in Yunnan, called Xingmeng 兴蒙. On festival days, the women still dress in their traditional costumes. The boy's costume is not traditional, but a recent borrowing from Inner Mongolian culture.
This project is funded in part by the National Science Foundation (BCS-1226804), ACLS/Mellon and the Endangered Language Fund.
